What Our Termite Barrier Customer's Say On Google
Just wow! We are so impressed with your service
Jenny Roberts - Pimpama
It's seldom you come across a company that really impresses the way Marie and Nico do. Nico was very patient with my husband and I and took us through what they would be doing while installing the termite barrier around our home. They worked neatly and took great care with our garden beds when digging the trenches. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a termite barrier.
Termite Inspection Gold Coast, Brisbane
When we arrive on-site to do a visual termite inspection or over the telephone, if you are not at home, we will ask you a number of important questions about your home's structure, if you've seen termite activity, your garden areas, foliage, concrete-works and decking.
These pertinent questions relate to where we might find termite activity on your property and the likelihood of termite damage occurring.
We then visually inspect your whole property inside and outside for termites and termite indicators such as termite mounds or tracks on, in and around your building and structures.
Should we find termite activity then we will advise the most appropriate treatment for your particular circumstances.
This might be a chemical treatment to kill the termites and we may also recommend a termite barrier is installed around the perimeter of your building to protect it against termite damage.
Types Of Termite Barriers
There are currently two types of barriers used in Australia. These are:
- Chemical Termite Barriers
- Physical Termite Barriers
Physical Termite Barriers
This is the form of either a stainless steel mesh or granulated rock that forms a physical barrier against termites penetrating your building structure. The physical termite barrier is installed around the outer perimeter wall of the building in the ground or within the external walls. On new builds, this is usually between the concrete slab and the frame.
The purpose of using a physical termite barrier is that the termites cannot eat through the physical termite mesh or rock barrier or move it out of the way and therefore they cannot gain access to the internal parts of your home or building.
Chemical Termite Barriers
The second type of termite barrier is a Chemical termite barrier and is currently one of the most popular forms of termite protection used. This is especially useful for existing buildings where it is not cost-effective to introduce a physical barrier in the external walls.
These types of barriers are applied in a liquid pesticide (chemical) form and are sprayed underneath the concrete slab or underneath your foundations, and around the external perimeter of the building. Chemical termite barriers can also be in the form of applying chemicals through a piped system under and around the home or by using special "blankets" that have been impregnated with certain chemicals.
A chemical termite barrier will last for a few years but you do need to have it reapplied every now and again, as the chemicals break down and lose their potency. For our Termite Services, we usually top up our chemical barriers every five years according to the manufacturer's specifications. Different termite barrier chemicals have different specifications and must be adhered to so that they remain effective.
Full or Partial Barriers
A full termite barrier completely incircles the property, whereas a partial termite barrier only protects part of the property.
Termite Baiting Systems
There are a few different termite baiting systems on the Australian market today.
These are bait stations are strategically buried around your home or office building and they are usually made up of a clear viewing "lid" system or once the lid is removed the "bait" can be inspected by the pest technician.
The bait used in such baiting stations can be special timber slivers or similar material that termites find attractive to feast upon.
When or if you or the technician see termites inside (referred to as "Activity" in the termite control industry), then we carry out further treatments in the vicinity of the termite activity.
This termite baiting systems are great for people that don’t want to use excessive chemicals around their properties.
